Kimetsu no Yaiba Wiki

Takeo Kamado (竈門 (かまど) (たけ) () Kamado Takeo?) is a minor character in Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba. He is a son of Tanjuro and Kie Kamado and Tanjiro and Nezuko's first younger brother. He was killed by Muzan Kibutsuji.

Appearance[]

Takeo had short, spiky black hair similar to his older brother Tanjiro and his father. Like the rest of his siblings, Takeo had a light pale complexion that contrasted with his dark red eyes, which also had white pupils. He was significantly similar in appearance to Tanjiro, except he had a beauty mark beneath his right eye, just like his mother, and lacked the scar on the top of his forehead.

Takeo wore a cloud-gray iromuji-kimono with a sea-green haori on top of it, along with a pair of tobi pants and boots. He also sported a turquoise and black patterned scarf.

Personality[]

Unlike the rest of his family, Takeo appears more serious and stern, showing his disappointment in not being able to join his older brother when his mother believe he would slow him down, but he nonetheless cared about his family very much, showing visible dismay at the prospect of Tanjiro suddenly leaving for the town.

As shown from his views regarding his older brother and sister, Takeo was very caring and loving brother to his siblings and expressed deep concern for his older siblings compassion and tendency to put others first before themselves, worrying that they may end up sacrificing something vital to themselves due to their excessive compassion and selflessness.

History[]

Tanjiro protecting Takeo from a falling brazier

Tanjiro saves Takeo from a falling brazier.

Takeo grew up in the mountains alongside his siblings and mother. He is the second oldest son of the Kamado family.

One day, Takeo accidentally knocked over a brazier but was pushed out of harm's way by Tanjiro, causing him to gain the scar on his head. The incident was witnessed by Nezuko.

Synopsis[]

Final Selection Arc[]

As Tanjiro departs to make his way to town and sell charcoal, he asks Takeo to cut firewood for the family. Takeo becomes annoyed as he had wanted to join him on selling charcoal, but his mother Kie did not allow him. Seeing his plight, Tanjiro pats him on the head in reassurance, to his chagrin. The family then wave him off as he leaves to head to the nearby village to begin sales.

That night, the family was attacked and killed by a demon, later revealed to be Muzan Kibutsuji, leaving Nezuko the sole survivor but transformed into a demon.

Tanjiro making graves for his family

Tanjiro buries Takeo and his family.

After an encounter with a Demon Slayer, Tanjiro is knocked unconscious and sees visions of his worried family, including Takeo. He wakes up, buries his family, and travels with Nezuko to meet a certain individual to begin his journey as a Demon Slayer.[1]

Kidnapper's Bog Arc[]

During Tanjiro's first mission as a Demon Slayer, he hunts for a demon responsible for numerous disappearance in a town. He finds the demon and saved his latest attempted victim. However, he is soon overwhelmed and Nezuko joins the battle to even the odds when the demon splits into numerous clones. Left alone when Tanjiro focuses on stopping the demon's Blood Demon Art, Nezuko, who had been hypnotized to see humans as to be protected, envisions the people with them as Takeo and Hanako, giving him the drive to fight back against the Swamp Demon.

Mugen Train Arc[]

Tanjiro with his family in his dream

Tanjiro is "reunited" with his family.

While investigating the Mugen train, Tanjiro becomes trapped within the sleep-based Blood Demon Art of Lower One Enmu, the demon they are seeking. He dreams he is reunited with his deceased family, with Takeo jokingly calling him a weirdo when Hanako and Shigeru spoke about how he suddenly began crying upon seeing them. Tanjiro eventually realizes that his dream is not real and accepts that his family is gone, leaving a saddened Takeo behind to find a way to wake up.

In his battle with Enmu, the Lower Rank attempts to trap Tanjiro in a nightmare where his family berates him for being the only survivor, with Takeo pushing him away. However, this fails when Tanjiro declares his family would never act in such a way, allowing him to decapitate Enmu.

Entertainment District Arc[]

During his battle against Upper Six Daki, Tanjiro recalls a letter from the former Flame Hashira. In it, he details how he must be capable of using the long-forgotten style known as Sun Breathing, as he has a mark on his head. However, Tanjiro did not believe it as his scar didn't appear when he was born but during an incident when he saved Takeo from a hot brazier.

When Nezuko fights Daki to save her brother, Takeo is briefly seen in Tanjiro's memory, where he tells him that he and Nezuko are similar in that they lack concern for themselves despite showing much concern for others. Takeo also states his worry for Nezuko possibly losing something precious to her as a result of this trait.[2] Takeo briefly appears again, when he worries that Nezuko isn't going to be herself anymore, due to her transformation, causing Tanjiro to regain consciousness and stop Nezuko.

Sunrise Countdown Arc[]

As she undergoes her transformation back to a human, Nezuko reminisces on the day Muzan arrived at her home and attempted to transform her family, including Takeo, into demons, inadvertently killing them but leaving her as the sole survivor.

Abilities[]

As an ordinary human, Takeo did not have any additional powers or abilities.

Trivia[]

  • The scarf that Takeo wears has the same mint checkered pattern as Tanjiro's haori.
  • Takeo's surname contains both Kunyomi readings for "a traditional Japanese wood or charcoal-fuelled cookstove/furnace" (竈 kama?) while the second kanji means "door" (門 do?). His given name contains the Kunyomi reading for "bamboo" (竹 take) and the On'yomi reading for "male" (雄 o).
  • His first name contain the kanji for 武夫, "warrior, man" 武雄

Quotes[]

  • (Tanjiro) "You and our sister sure take after each other. You're gentle but scary when you get mad. "
  • (Tanjiro) "Like our sister..when that rough-looking grown-up bumped into a kid and hurt him, she got in his face, asking him to apologize. I mean, luckily there were tons of grown-ups around, but...it was scary. For me. Since people who get mad for others tend not to have any regard for their own safety. And because of that, they may lose something precious someday. That scares me."
